“I Told You I Was Freak” Flight of the Conchords album review

Flight of the Conchords’ I Told You I Was Freaky is an excellent second album that upholds the comical and musical talent of Jemaine and Brett. The duo starts out with hip-hop then goes in to rock, folk and 80’s style electric songs. Jemaine and Brett even do a reggae style song, You Don’t Have To Be A Prostitute, which has a great xylophone fade out. The songs are from the second season of the T.V. show.

I Told You I was Freaky is just as good as the first album. The title track and most of the album is silly and sexual. Flight of the Conchords hit all of the emotional levels with songs like Hurt Feelings and We’re Both In Love With A Sexy Lady. They keep everything humorous with songs like Sugalumps, the New Zealanders version my milkshake. Even Murray sings along on some tracks in particular, Friends. They offer a surprising amount of versatility. You can bump some hip hop, groove to a Russian song about a fish, or get teary eyed listening to them sing about failed romances. All in all it is a good and funny album. If you are a fan or even if you have only heard a few if their songs it is an album that is definitely worth picking up.
