Meet the Editors of the USD Vista
Editor in Chief
Tayler Reviere Verninas (RV)
Tayler, aka RV, is a senior majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Spanish. She began writing as a contributor for The USD Vista newspaper her first semester at USD, and has worked as the Assistant Opinion Editor, Arts & Culture Editor, and Assistant News Editor. RV is a journalism enthusiast who thoroughly appreciates the interviewing, reporting, writing, and editing processes. The opportunity to incorporate individuals’ perspectives and observations within a story excites RV to continue ‘fighting the good fight.’
Ellie is a senior majoring in English and minoring in Communication Studies. She has worked her way up from a contributing writer to Assistant News Editor to News Editor. Over the summer, she worked as an intern at the California State Capitol Assembly in the office of the 74th Assembly District. Ellie is looking forward to bringing her passion for journalism to the editing table and creating compelling stories with USD Student Media.
Kelly is a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Visual Arts. She previously served as Art Director and Feature Editor for The USD Vista. After spending the summer interning with San Diego Magazine, Kelly returns to The USD Vista excited for another year of creating and editing content and expanding The USD Vista’s brand in conjunction with USD Student Media.
James is a senior majoring in English and Communication Studies and minoring in Marketing. This is his first semester working for USD Student Media. Over the summer, he worked as a reporting intern for inewsource, an investigative journalism nonprofit in San Diego. He also currently works as a tutor at the USD Writing Center.
Lily is a junior majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Business Administration. This is her first year working for The USD Vista as the News Editor. She is aspiring to have a career in law and keeping the public informed on the latest news is her first step to that goal. She looks forward to finding the issues that the USD community wants and needs to hear about and delivering them to the community. She also currently works as a tutor in the Math Learning Center.
Taryn is a senior majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Business Administration. This will be her second semester writing in the opinion section for The USD Vista. Over the summer, she interned with Bolt Public Relations in Orange County. Taryn is looking forward to expressing the views of the USD community in her weekly articles.
Celina is a first-year majoring in Political Science and minoring in Communication Studies and Spanish. This is her first semester working for The USD Vista. She hopes to bring to light important issues in the USD and local San Diego community that are important for students to know about. She hopes to pursue a career in policy and wants to gain more professional experience and public confidence by working for The USD Vista.
Arts & Culture Editor
Anderson is a junior majoring in Communication Studies. This is his first semester working for The USD Vista. He looks forward to growing the Arts & Culture section and continuing to produce engaging and relevant content. In his free time, he plays for USD’s Club Baseball team.
Noah is a senior majoring in Business Economics. This will be his fourth year writing for the sports section of The USD Vista. In addition to his work with the newspaper, Noah also serves as an NFL correspondent for The Mighty 1090 and as the Director of Scouting and Analytics for the USD baseball team.
Walker is a super senior majoring in English, and previously worked as Arts & Culture Editor for The USD Vista newspaper. He enjoys film photography, designer clothing, and playing indie rock music. This summer, Walker interned in the marketing department of OSSIC, a virtual reality hardware startup, where he planned monthly consumer engagement content and advertisements. Walker hopes to utilize his creativity for the USD Media family this year.
Rita is a junior majoring in Architecture and minoring in Leadership Studies. This is her first semester working for the USD Vista. She hopes to add to the layout of each section with creative graphics and looks forward to creating interactive center spreads. She also does marketing for the International Student Organization, both in print and digital.
