Double duty at USD’s stadium

On Feb. 9, the San Diego Legion will kick off their third Major League Rugby (MLR) season at Torero Stadium. A month later, on Mar. 7, San Diego Loyal SC will kick off their first United Soccer League (USL) season, also at Torero Stadium. In total, the University of San Diego will play host to 12 professional sports games over the course of this semester.

When the University of San Diego football team took the field against the University of Northern Iowa on Saturday, it marked the Toreros’ fourth consecutive postseason appearance, and their fifth in the last six years. A week earlier, USD won their 37th consecutive Pioneer Football League (PFL) game, defeating the Jacksonville University Dolphins 47-28.
