You’re finally here! What now? Can’t decide from the hundreds of Insta and picture-worthy spots that San Diego has to offer? Don’t have enough time to plan out an elaborate outing? Don’t worry because in San Diego, spontaneity is highly encouraged and widely supported by endless places to see and things to do. We’ve got you covered for where your next “Spontaneous Day in San Diego” will take you (safely and responsibly amidst COVID-19 restrictions).
Good Morning: Communal Coffee in South Park
2221 Fern St, San Diego, CA 92104
It’s time to grab your morning coffee (or tea) to jumpstart your day. What better place to enjoy drinks and light treats than the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that Communal Coffee in South Park offers. Communal Coffee is perfect amidst COVID-19 restrictions because they only offer outdoor seating, which is what all restaurants and places that serve food have to convert to in order to still serve customers. Communal Coffee requires all customers to wear a mask until seated at their table. What really sets Communal Coffee aside from other coffee shops is the fact that customers order from a vintage travel trailer; it’s appealing to the eyes and even more fun to order from. If you’re into coffee, Communal Coffee offers a latte “flight” of your choice of two flavors including: lavender honey, vanilla bean, and rose vanilla.
Good Afternoon: Pigment in North Park
3801 30th St, San Diego, CA 92104
After you get your morning fuel, it’s time for an extremely picture-worthy spot. Whether you really like looking at home decor, need to buy a small gift for a friend, or love plants and succulents, Pigment in North Park could be your paradise. Every corner of this unique shop is filled with picture-worthy walls, items, and accessories for all your aesthetic needs. Amidst COVID restrictions, customers wait to come into the store so that workers can make sure the store has not reached max capacity. Just outside the store are two different photo walls that catch all eyes; one wall is adorned with a myriad of succulents and the other wall is completely pink with the phrase “love more than ever” spray painted on. After taking many pictures or simply just admiring the unique walls, walk around North Park and find yourself in the welcoming and artistic ambience that the community fosters.
Good Evening: Kate O. Sessions Memorial Park
5115 Soledad Rd, San Diego, CA 92109
After taking the routine midday nap that you deserve, enjoy a picnic or dinner with a breath-taking view from Kate O. Sessions Memorial Park. Upon walking from the parking lot to the top of the hill, you are greeted with a never-ending view of greenery and a panoramic of Mission Bay and downtown San Diego. Setting your picnic blanket down and maintaining enough social distance between other people is easy because of how spacious the park is. And as if the environment couldn’t get any better, big and small dogs alike roam around trying to meet and greet as many people as they can. Beware, there are hungry dogs who will show no mercy to your Taco Shop Carne Asada burrito if you dare set it down unattended. While eating dinner, you can fully become a “true” San Diegan by watching a San Diego Sunset (there’s nothing like it!).
