USD en route to normalcy for Fall 2021

Last spring, individuals lived in a world of uncertainty, of not knowing what came next. After the summer, USD students in particular were expectant of a more “normal” Fall 2020 semester. But, amidst rising cases and per state guidelines, classes and campus life did not resume in person as many were hoping. 
This spring, however, is different and one thing is certain: plans for an in-person Fall 2021 semester at USD are underway.

USD mandates COVID-19 vaccination for students on campus next semester

With the end of the semester approaching, USD announced their decision to make getting a COVID-19 vaccination a requirement for those choosing to live in on-campus residence halls or attend in-person classes for the Fall 2021 semester. Although the Student Health Center (SHC) is still working toward attaining a larger vaccination supply for the USD community, the hope is that in the upcoming weeks greater amounts of students will be able to get vaccinated on campus before the semester ends.

As the Spring semester comes to a close, students begin to optimistically make plans for the Fall 2021 semester. Through the uncertainty of the pandemic that students are still facing, planning for the future proves difficult to do. USD plans to move forward with Fall 2021 study abroad

After canceling all Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Summer 2021 study abroad programs, USD says it is moving forward with study abroad for Fall 2021 with applications closing March 17. The hope of studying abroad brings a lot of excitement, concerns, and questions. With approximately 150 students having now applied for study abroad programs, an important question is whether or not their program will be canceled, and if it is, what that will mean for the students.
