USD moves to weekly COVID-19 testing

As a result of the spike in COVID-19 cases at the beginning of the semester, USD is now requiring all students to return back to weekly COVID-19 testing, as was required the first couple of weeks of the spring semester. An email sent by Donald Godwin, Ph.D., assistant vice president and dean of students, on Feb.18 announced a new testing protocol that included a return to weekly testing in order to prevent large spikes in COVID-19 cases. The new testing protocol also now requires students who do not live on campus but plan to visit campus to get tested weekly as well.

The future of in-person learning: professor discusses feasibility of returning

At the start of the Spring 2021 semester, USD offered certain classes, such as labs and recreation courses, in person. As of Feb. 12, USD encountered a setback as COVID-19 cases on campus shot up in the past few weeks, so those in-person courses were moved back online.

USD issues stay-on-campus order

Following a rise in COVID-19 cases, USD’s administration has decided to declare their version of a stay-at-home order for students living on campus. Students are no longer permitted to leave campus for any non-essential reason, such as dining, social, or entertainment purposes.

ASG brings back New York Times subscription for all USD students

USD’s Associated Student Government (ASG) voted to pass the budget for the Spring 2021 semester on Jan. 28, which included funding a free New York Times digital subscription for all students for the rest of the semester.
