In late 2017, it was announced that the highly anticipated “punk-rock summer camp,” Van’s Warped Tour, would be doing its final cross-country tour in 2018. Creator of Warped Tour, Kevin Lyman, posted the news to the event’s website in November 2017, which lead fans to become confused and upset that they may only have one more chance to attend the one-day music fest. As for the reason for the tour ending, Lyman has explained that it is due to lack of interest from bands to play and from decreasing ticket sales for dates.

Warped Tour has been active every summer for the past 24 years and has brought in 11 million fans from all over the country. The music fest has had big names as headliners such as Blink-182, NOFX, and Paramore. The summer of 2018 had fans hoping that popular bands such as these would return to play for the final run, leading to a highly anticipated lineup. On March 1st, Lyman released the final lineup of Warped Tour 2018 on the events’ social media pages. There was some disappointment with the lineup, as seen on the comments of the post, but excitement was overpowering. Bands that were brought back to play the final run of Warped Tour include famous older bands such as Simple Plan, Sum 41, and Taking Back Sunday. The San Diego date of Warped Tour, June 22nd, does not include Sum 41 or Taking Back Sunday, but there will be special guests including All Time Low and Black Veil Brides, along with other popular bands such as Mayday Parade, The Maine, and The Used.

No matter the lineup, most fans are excited to make the final cross-country run as memorable as possible and celebrate the event that brought many of these bands to the spotlight. “I have been proud to work with so many artists who have grown to be some of the largest stars in the world,” wrote Kevin Lyman on the event’s website. It is certain that fans feel the same way as they await the eventful summer.

Tickets for Van’s Warped Tour range from $45-$55.
