Giveon is a rhythm and blues singer and songwriter from Long Beach, California. He released his EP, “When It’s All Said And Done,” on Oct. 2, 2020. The EP contains four songs and is in total 10 minutes long. Through Giveon’s beautiful vocals, the short EP takes us on a journey about constantly going back to the same one person regardless of their toxicity. He uses his storytelling skills to invite listeners inside the struggles he faced with love and overcoming an ex.

The 25-year-old singer released his debut single “Garden Kisses” in August of 2018 followed by another song, “Fields” in October of 2018. Two years later, Giveon released his first album, “Take Time,” on March 27, 2020. Only a few months later, and he delivered another masterpiece.

Giveon begins the EP with a fifty-five second song: “When It’s All Said And Done.” This song details Giveon letting his ex know that he was the person for her. There is an eighteen second outro where he is talking to his friend and says, “I told her I knew it was gonna take time, but Imma be good when it’s all said and done.” This song sets the tone for the rest of the EP. “When It’s All Said And Done” is followed by the song, “Still Your Best.” Giveon takes listeners  through a complicated relationship that was given up on. Giveon is sending a clear message to his ex that he knows his value and what he can offer in a relationship. Regardless of who she dates next, everyone after him will be a downgrade, because he is the “best she ever had”, the song says.

From here, Giveon struggles with going back to an ex even though he knows he should not. This is portrayed between the charming vocals of Giveon and Snoh Aalegra in the song, “Last Time.” No matter how many times they tell themselves this will be the last time, they know it won’t be. The EP ends with the song, “Stuck on You.” Giveon ends this journey with talking about how at the end of the day, him, his friends, and the most important people in his life know his ex is wrong for him. Even though this girl constantly treats Giveon wrong, for some reason he is stuck on her.

Giveon brings music that has been missing from the industry. He is authentic and writes songs that many people can relate to. He allows his listeners to feel every emotion possible. His smooth tone brings instant peace to the ears. He has a unique sound that distinguishes him from any other rhythmic and blue singer. Giveon has a deep, rich tone that naturally flows through any beat. Giveon is an extremely talented artist that is just beginning his career.
